Match your mid-lengths and ends, not your roots
Most people's hair lightens naturally from root to end due to sun exposure. Extensions attach below the root, so match your sample to the mid-shaft and ends of your hair, not to your regrowth.
Check the color in natural daylight
Indoor lighting, from warm bulbs to LED overheads, can make hair look warmer or cooler than it really is. Hold your color sample near a window in natural light and compare it to a fresh strand before ordering.
Going ombre, balayage, or highlighted?
If your hair has dimension, a single solid shade won't look natural on its own. Ombre and balayage extensions blend two or more tones, and multi-tonal wefts, like our Volume Weft and Tape-In lines, are built to mimic natural highlights and lowlights. If your natural color has any variation, order a two-tone set.
Torn between two shades? Size up
If you're stuck between two neighboring shades, pick the slightly warmer or slightly darker one. Extensions tend to read a shade lighter once installed and exposed to light.
